They work at businesses, government offices, not-for-profit organizers, and third-party computer support firms. In this article I interviewed our DPUST (Data Processing User Support Technician) at our school, Mr. Anthony Cabiara. Mr. Cabiara fixes computers and provides technical support for staff. He also oversees all the tech equipment on campus. The daily duties for this job is troubleshooting and repairing computers, diagnosing and solving software and hardware problems for teachers, students, and staff. In order to be an IT Specialist you must have a Bachelors Degree and get certified. The qualities that a person would need to be successful in this job are good problem solving skills, patience, attention to detail, communication skills, ability to thrive under pressure, listening skills, and passion for technology. Being a (DPUST) falls under the Industrial and Engineering Technology Pathway. I would suggest that while you’re still a kid you should study or explore STEM education and coding to prepare for this career.
